Congratulations Phil Routhan

Phil Routhan, winner of the NZIM Management Magazine Southern Regional Young Executive of the Year Award, has become the 1995 National winner of this prestigious award.

NZIM extends to Phil heartiest congratulations on his win and for becoming Canterbury’s (in its broader sense) second winner in the two years the Award has been made.

Phil owns the West Coast plumbing company W H Shannon Ltd, Hokitika.--He became interested in plumbing at the age of three, started his apprenticeship four days after leaving high school and now has five mobile workshops on the road and outlets in Greymouth, Fox Glaciers and Wanaka.

Phil’s story, his philosophy and vision are featured in the September issue of Management Magazine.--He says “I’m here to prove that the average New Zealander, no matter where he or she comes from, can make it.--As long as you set a goal, take professional management advice and go for it, it works.”

Phil now goes on to Belfast next year to represent New Zealand at the “Worldcom World young Business Achiever Award.”--On the way there will be a visit to Number 10 Downing Street, to meet the UK Prime Minister, an opportunity to attend the House of Commons and meet the leader of the opposition.--We will keep you informed of his progress.
