Operational, Procedural and Customer Service manuals
What I Do
Most organizations and Businesses in some form or other have documentation on how the business operates.
Many struggle however with the actual detail of every process and procedure being accurately recorded. When it is attempted much can be disjointed, out of order or not recorded at all.
The most vital of steps can be missed or overlooked.
A well written and detailed procedural manual should be able to be easily read, understood and followed by the reader.
I first study any existing documentation to get an overview of the Business and how it operates. Once I have that understanding I set about aligning how that particular process or procedure is carried out in real time.
More often than not the actual does not align with the instruction or detail.
Why is this so important
With employment laws they way they are drafted it is imperative both with training of new staff and existing that there is no misunderstanding on how a particular procedure is to be undertaken.
Employment disputes can be costly for the employer if that documentation does not exist or is inaccurate.
Likewise Health and Safety legislation determines that hazards must be identified at each and every step of a procedure.
One of the major benefits I find is in identifying duplicity, time and time again procedures are carried out with little or no thought as to how it could be done easier, better and more cost effective.
As an example a simple composite list can save hours of work when undertaking a regular mundane task.
I enjoy the work and take great pride in seeing the changes it brings about in the companies I work with.
