Promising Young Executive

The 1995 regional winner of the Young Executive of the Year Award is Philip Routhan, owner/manager of W.H. Shannon Ltd, Hokitika.

The two judges Murray Wham, general manager of Defiance Flour Mills and Peter Cosgriff, a senior lecturer at Lincoln University, agreed that Mr Routhan had the appropriate qualities to received the award.

Judging criteria included leadership potential, interaction with staff members, ability to innovate, work with teams and personal contributions towards the company’s success.

John Masters, of Milburn New Zealand Ltd, who nominated Mr Routhan said that plumbing is “in his blood as he accompanied his tradesman father on jobs from the age of three”.

Mr Routhan now goes on to the national finals in Wellington on August 18, and the winner goes on to the “Worldcom” finals in Belfast next April.
